Celine Marchbank is a slow and acute observer of daily life, fascinated by the quiet details of domesticity, and the often overlooked stories within.

Celine’s first book; Tulip, the story of the last year of her mother's life, was published by Dewi Lewis Publishing in 2016, where it was met with widespread acclaim and exhibited and published nationally and internationally. Named Photo Book of the Month by Sean O’Hagan in The Observer newspaper and Photo Book of The Week by Photo-Eye, featured in The British Journal of Photography, BBC News, The Guardian, The Times Literary Supplement, The Independent, The Telegraph Magazine, Vanity Fair and Photomonitor amongst others.

Her work has won and been a selected finalist for a series of awards. In 2017 Celine was a winner in the documentary category in the Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers, Jury’s Selection for the Prix Virginia International Photography Prize for Women, and category winner in the Creative Review Photography Annual. Her work has also been shortlisted in several photography awards including The European Publishers Award For Photography, The Deutsche Bank Photography Award, Magenta Flash Forward Awards, The Lucie Foundation Grant, a finalist in the Emergentes DST International Photography Award, and the winner of the Hereford Photography Festival Open Here award.

This year she was named as one of the winning artists for the Photoworks and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust commission to create a permanent collection of photographic artworks for the 3Ts Hospital Redevelopment Public Art Programme. As well as being commissioned for 209 Women, a project to create portraits of all the 209 female members of Parliament to mark the centenary of women achieving the vote in 1918, resulting in an exhibition at the Palace of Westminster in December 2018.

She is a lecturer in photography on the BA (Hons) Photography course at Ravensbourne University London, a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA), and a Leica Akademie Ambassador running Leica workshops around the UK.
